We are looking for the unsung Angels and hero’s in our community. What is an Angel/hero? These are people or businesses that combat adversity through feats of ingenuity, courage, or strength, and those who perform great deeds or selfless acts for the common good.
Who is your local Angel? It may be a teacher, a nurse, or any frontline worker, but it also may be a neighbor, an employee (or employer), a small business owner, or a friend, or it might just be the kid next door. Angels can be individuals or whole organizations making a difference in West Volusia, any individual, business or a nonprofit.
We’ll provide a few examples, but we need to hear from you. You can submit a name, a few sentences, and your Angels contact information. We’ll also need a photo of them, so we’ll want their permission. We’ll be sharing West Volusia Regional Chambers Halo nominees in our newsletter, website, social media, and through the local media. Each nominee must have a paragraph or two, submitted explaining why they are being nominated along with contact info if possible. All nominees must be nominated for actions/efforts based within West Volusia County.
Outstanding individual or business that aid in the improvement of Mental Health Services within West Volusia. Any employer or employee who has contributed to creating a mentally healthy workplace for staff. Any organization that has provided great public service to community members experiencing mental illness. Any person, who through personal commitment, has increased awareness about mental illness or reduced stigma in his or her community
Outstanding individual or businesses that aid in the improvement of access to Housing within West Volusia. Helping those in need to get back on their feet with dignity.
We are looking for a young person up to the age of 18 who volunteers and makes a significant contribution to their local community. We know kids sometimes get a bad reputation. Tell us about the kids whose hearts are in the right place. An outstanding young individual that has worked to make a difference in the community through volunteerism, outreach, or a program in West Volusia.
YOUTH MENTOR AWARD
Given to an adult who has helped the most with the youth of our community. (e.g., coach, youth minister, counselor, etc.)
SENIOR CITIZEN AWARD
Given to a senior citizen who has volunteered their time to help the community. Outstanding Senior individual or business owner that works to better the lives of West Volusia through volunteerism, outreach, or a profession.
Frontline Medical Hero of the Year
This category will accept nominations of doctors, nurses, emergency medical responders, and other frontline medical personnel for their heroic work .Outstanding individual that has gone above and beyond in the medical field within West Volusia.
Everyone remembers their favorite teacher. This award recognizes teachers who are bringing learning to life by engaging and inspiring all children and young people to fulfil their potential. This is an Outstanding individual in the field of education that has gone above and beyond, you know that teacher who saw a child with no coat during the winter and bought them one! Or saw that a child needed that little extra attention and stayed late to make sure they understood their work.

Culture & Arts
Outstanding individual or business that has worked to preserve or inform the public about culture and the arts within West Volusia County through volunteerism, local art displays/initiatives, or philanthropy.
Outstanding Volunteer and Philanthropist -This will be an Individual and Business award.
Outstanding individual and or Company that is heavily involved in local efforts to give back and better the community within West Volusia.
This award is for an individual, group, or Business that have dedicated their lives to supporting an amazing cause, or Charity. A chance to recognize the incredible work they undertake.
Best Community Improvement Program
The award for this category is dedicated to a single strategic initiative focused on community improvement. Eligible initiatives focus on topics including civic engagement, economic development, green space, nonprofit capacity building, bike trails and parks or infrastructural improvement.
